Alma Hosts Thrilling 2026 Broomball Nationals with New Champions Crowned

Apr. 16, 2026

Alma, Quebec — April 11, 2026

Nearly 1,000 athletes and coaching staff gathered in Alma, Quebec from April 7 to 11 for the 2026 Broomball Nationals, delivering five days of high-level competition, intense matchups, and unforgettable finishes across four divisions: women’s, men’s, mixed, and masters.
Fans were treated to exceptionally tight contests throughout the tournament, with every championship game decided by a single goal — a testament to the growing parity and elite skill level in Canadian broomball.

In the women’s division, a new champion emerged as Grey Bruce Storm dethroned the defending champions, Phoenix, in a hard-fought 1–0 victory. The game’s lone goal, backed by a standout performance from Jenna James, proved to be the difference. Grey Bruce’s disciplined defensive play and composure under pressure secured the franchise’s first national title.

The men’s final delivered similar drama, as Les Boys captured their first-ever national championship with a narrow 1–0 win over the defending Ottawa Nationals. The decisive moment came early, with a quick goal in the opening moments that set the tone for a tightly controlled game. Les Boys held firm defensively to preserve the lead and make history.

In the mixed division, powerhouse team Broom-Shak continued to build on their dynasty, claiming another title with a 2–1 victory over their long-time Quebec rivals, Gladiateurs. The matchup lived up to expectations, showcasing high intensity and skill, with Broom-Shak once again proving their ability to perform on the biggest stage.

The masters division saw a familiar result, as Mon Conseiller reclaimed the championship with a 2–1 win over les As/Pogos. Their experience and consistency were key factors in navigating another closely contested final.

With two first-time champions in Grey Bruce Storm and Les Boys, and continued dominance from established teams like Broom-Shak and Mon Conseiller, the 2026 Broomball Nationals highlighted both the emergence of new contenders and the strength of enduring programs.
As the sport continues to grow across the country, Alma proved to be an outstanding host, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting future for broomball in Canada.
