Annette Gaetz - Award of Merit
Award of Merit - Annette Gaetz
Annette has been a huge part of keeping broomball going in our province. She has recently retired from coaching leaving a legacy of hard work, extreme planning, and sense community within broomball. She was and always will be a great Ambassador for our sport. She is the person who started taking teams to world competitions and I was fortunate to be asked to come along.
Annette started playing when there was no junior program; after she graduated she started playing for the Packettes ladies team in Regina and played with them from 1977-1982. She lived in Montmartre for 5 years. While she and Leonard were there, they started a junior girls program from 1980-82, and then moved to Odessa, Then in Odessa in 1983 she started another ladies team called the Shooters. But then while playing the ladies we were getting so many young girls that wanted to play, so they started a junior girls' team. From there it just continued to grow with a junior boys team forming, and then slowly the midget and bantam teams also got started.
Then in 2004 she started another ladies team the Storm which still is presently playing.
